Hop Talk #71: Tree House Redux

Hey y’all! Man, it’s good to try Tree House again, I haven’t really had them since our last episode and short (oh yeah, those used to be a thing…), so I was happy to hear about Carl going to visit the brewery. That’s something I really need to do sometime, as I’d love to see their new space.

As we mentioned on the show, Tree House plays things close to the chest when it comes to their hop builds. I was able to find some different clone recipes of Green online (like this one), but we’ll never know if they’re exactly the same or not. I read somewhere that Galaxy made up 80% of Green, but I couldn’t verify that statement. Amarillo was also thrown around a lot on the message boards. On a related note, I’m not sure what the text on the bottom of the Green can meant but it may be a reference to a Waylon Jennings song, which I’ll link below.

We go over some recent news stories over the course of this episode, so I thought I’d link some additional reading material here. First off, here’s an article update about the whole corn syrup debate between MillerCoors and AB InBev, which is dumb but hey, at least they’re fighting each other instead of attacking craft breweries, right?

If you want to know more about the terrible car accident and subsequent lawsuit Perry and Carl brought up on the show, you should check out this article. I’ve seen my fair share of people being cut off from drinking (and reacting poorly), but unfortunately it doesn’t always happen when it should, which can easily put lives at risk.

Finally, the last batch of CBS should be hitting stores about a month from now, and I’ll probably see if I can grab some especially considering it’ll be in a bit more of a drinkable format. Now that they are to be 90% owned by San Miguel, I wonder what other changes we’ll be seeing from this brewery. Will you continue to drink Founders or will you abstain from indulging “Big Beer?” Let me know!

See y’all next time!
